Personal Stylist, HumanLisa Sharpe
For me, the most important thing in life and in the world, is people. All people. The first half of my life has been working with people in the realm of social work, mostly heath care. At the same time, I have always enjoyed finding unique clothing and accessories that blend with who I am, resonate within me deep inside, and bring delight each time I put them on.
Fashion is such an elevated word. To me, it simply means beautiful clothing, which has nothing to do with how much it costs or what label is inside.
At first, transitioning from social work to fashion seemed like such a dichotomy of interests! It all makes sense now. Through Stylish Sparrow, I am able to pursue my two loves: people and fashion. Fashion is such an elevated word. To me, it simply means beautiful clothing, which has nothing to do with how much it costs or what label is inside.
Clothing is one of the most basic human needs (food, clothing and shelter). Dignity is at the center of this basic need. I have seen people’s countenance change when they feel good about what they are wearing. They carry themselves differently. They feel good about themselves. This is a universal human experience.
What Inspires Me
There are some items that I never tire of, even after decades of wearing them: a bracelet that someone gave me in college. The vintage evening dress that I am waiting for just the right occasion to wear. Boots from the Santa Fe flea market. A salmon colored silk top I bought just because I’ve never owned anything that color. I am attracted to texture, color, pattern and style.
I buy things that inspire me, even if I don’t know exactly where or how I’m going to wear them. Things just seem to make sense once I get them home and experiment with what I have. Sharing this love of clothing and personal style with people is a dream come true!
